NEW PAGAN MUSIC DUO CONJURES MAGIC WITH PRE-RELEASE SINGLE FROM THEIR FORTHCOMING FIRST ALBUM
Seasoned musician Lori Schneider, celebrated solo artist and member of Crystal Rose, joins with author and Sisterhood of Avalon founder, Jhenah Telyndru, for exciting new project.
NEW YORK (September 18, 2012) – Afalarian, an exciting new musical duo, blends musical styles ranging from medieval chant, Renaissance instrumentals, modern Pagan Folk with a touch of Gothic influence in their pre-release single called The Loom.
Singer and multi-instrumentalist Lori Schneider brings two decades as a professional performer and music educator to this project, infusing it with a sense of the divine as a reflection of her immersion into music as a spiritual path. “For sheer vocal beauty, “ writes Good Times Magazine of Lori, “there are few that can match her.” She was the founding member of Crystal Rose, an acoustic duo who has toured widely in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and who was acclaimed for their incredible harmonies and rich musical landscapes. Lori has several diverse solo projects under her belt as well. Her 2004 release, Legend:A Knight’s Opera, is a medieval rock opera, containing an eclectic range of influences from classical, progressive rock, folk and world music. Lori’s long term interest in Indian Music inspired the release of her 2007 CD Evergreen Heart, and her studies included the exploration of Indian Ragas, vocal Bhajans, as well as learning to play harmonium, tambour and Bansuri Flute.
Jhenah Telyndru is new to the professional music scene, though she has been leading chant workshops and using sound healing as part of her spiritual practice for almost 20 years. A singer/songwriter who feels that music is made more powerful when it is shared in community, Jhenah is best known as an author and teacher in the Pagan Community, and her 2010 release, Avalon Within, “weaves together the threads and tag ends of Celtic women’s spirituality into a whole tapestry, something at once old and new, individual and universal,” according to Sage Woman Magazine.
Together, Lori and Jhenah are Afalarian, a collaborative effort of two women seeking to taste the wondrous fruit of Avalon, the silver apple of wisdom and self knowledge.
